The Mark McGwire Saga: Part 583

Just when you think things can’t get any worse for Mark McGwire, his estranged brother will be releasing a book shortly titled “”Mark and Me: Mark McGwire and the Truth Behind Baseball’s Worst-Kept Secret”. As Mark McGwire took the necessary steps to to fix his tainted image by coming clean and taking on the position as the hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, this is the LAST thing he needed as spring training is just underway. Personally, I am not a fan of Mark McGwire, but I mean come on. Just when you think the drama is finally over, it comes right back and slaps you in the face.

According to an interview with the Associated Press, Jay McGwire is quoted as saying:

Mark knew that he was going to get the strength and endurance and size. I know that the main motive to justify taking steroids was healing. I know that for a fact. But in the long run he knew the strength and the size and endurance will increase. I don’t know why he’s coming across that it was all healing. He knows his game went to the next level because his body went to the next level. He knows. The body, the before and after pictures, are amazing.

There is much more to this interview which can be found on the following link: AP Interview: Jay McGwire says drugs aided big bro

What are your thoughts on this new development from Mark McGwire’s estranged brother?

YANKEE FACT

06/10/2011 - On May 8, 1925, the Yankees Everett Scott sat out a game against the St. Louis Brown, ending his Major League record of 1,307 consecutive games played. Just three weeks later, Scott's teammate Lou Gehrig began a streak of 2,130 straight games that would break Scott's record and stand for decades.
