Curtis Granderson, to me, is the best addition to the Yankees roster this year. People may complain that since he can’t hit lefties that he’s useless against them. While this has been true in the past, I think it’s obvious I am hoping for a different result this year and in the future. His weakness against left handed pitchers has been evident, and I think that the staff can work on this deficiency in spring training and throughout the season. If this bug is worked out even remotely, Granderson will be extremely dangerous in pinstripes. The Tigers lineup was very good, but it did not provide the protection that will be provided by the Yankees. Nobody is sure where Granderson will hit in the lineup yet. I could see him being successful hitting leadoff, in the 2 hole, or even batting 5th, 6th, or 7th. His range of hitting talent is that strong.

That’s right. 36 home runs and a slugging percentage above .500. He has shown that he has the skills to put up stellar numbers thanks to his impressive combination of speed and power, and his home park and lineup support are probably the best in the game. Lately contact has been an issue for Granderson, as well as hitting left handed pitchers. He may be a bit iffy at the beginning as he gets adjusted to the spotlight of New York, but eventually he will be more relaxed get used to his surroundings. Come June he will be a stud center fielder, and trust me, he will be taking full advantage of the resources provided to him by the Yankees.
Stay tuned for tomorrow when star third baseman Alex Rodriguez is the subject of our focus.
