In my opinion, and I’m sure I share this opinion with many other Yankee fans, Andy Pettitte is one of the greatest left handed pitchers this organization has ever seen. He helped lead this team to many championships, provided great pitching during the season, and perhaps most importantly, he was extremely clutch for the Yankees in the post season. He had a knack for being able to get a win for the Yankees after a loss in the playoffs, which is something that was obviously vital to their success and momentum. He’s another year older though, and every year it’s a decision for him on whether or not he should retire. Fortunately for us, he’s decided to come back again and he’ll probably deliver another year of consistency.
Wins: 12
Losses: 11
ERA: 4.12
Complete Games: 0
Innings Pitched: 179
Strikeouts: 130
WHIP: 1.40
Unfortunately, he is another year older so expect the statistics to be a bit worse. However, this does not necessarily mean he is going to be bad. Another year under his belt does not mean he will lose his inane clutch abilities. In fact, he may even be better in pressure situations. The fact is, while his overall stats may be down this year I would still trust him in a high pressure or playoff game without a doubt.
We’re not quite sure who the final starting pitcher is going to be for the Yankees, but I’ll unveil my guess along with how I think he’s going to perform this season.
How do you expect Pettitte to do this year?
