I had the absolute privilege this past Saturday in not only seeing the Yankees manhandle the Houston Astros, but I was able to see one of the greatest military shows 45 minutes before game time. On Saturday, June 12th, the Yankees held Military Appreciation Day. At about 12:15pm, fans could look over the centerfield scoreboard and see a military plane approaching. Just as the plane was about to pass the stadium, if you were looking up, you could see a person jump out of the plane just over the East River. After about a second of free-fall, you can see the jumper pull the parachute cord, and before you know it, the bright yellow parachute is in full view, and you see the parachuter slowly descend back to earth and land right in the middle of Yankee Stadium in centerfield. The 1st person to jump was the team leader of the U.S. Golden Knights. After taking the parachute off, the team leader made his way behind home plate, got on a microphone and did the “play-by-play” of the next jump which was performed by the rest of the team (eight Golden Knights jumped when the plane circled back over the stadium). I am not going to sit here and TELL you what happened, instead I’ll show you how incredible it was. I have embedded 3 videos for the jumps below. The first video is from the jump made by the team leader, the last two videos are the rest of the Golden Knights team… middle video is their jump, last video is of them landing in the outfield.
Hope you enjoy!
