C.C. Sabathia takes the hill tonight as the Yankees face his former club, the Cleveland Indians. Entering tonight the Yankees own the best record of the month with a 16-5 record for July. C.C. Sabathia, who celebrated his 30th birthday on July 21st, is going for win number 150 for his career. The big man is pitching exactly as everyone is expecting of him. On the season, Sabathia has a 13-3 record in 21 starts, with a 3.18 ERA and 119 K in 144.1 IP. He has been a workhorse for the Yankees and despite some early season struggles, he has come back strong and is tied for the American League lead for wins… tied with Tampa Bay Rays David Price. Sabathia could very well end the 2010 season with his first 20-win season and a possible Cy Young Award for his fireplace.
C.C. and his numbers
- In his last 10 starts, Sabathia…
He will face Josh Tomlin tonight, starting at 7:05pm at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH. Against his former club, Sabathia is 1-0 in 3 games. He has a career 4.34 ERA against the Tribe, surrendering 17 hits in 18.2 innings, while allowing 9 ERs. Despite the fact that C.C. is 1-0 and he has not had many starts versus the Indians, this will be a good test for him. When all is said and done, the Yankees offense will score enough runs to earn C.C. his 150th win.
NOTE: Alex Rodriguez, who is celebrating his 35th birthday today, will continue his quest for home run #600 tonight as well. Could it be a night of milestones? Check out the game preview!
