After last night’s diappointing loss (8-6) to the Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Yankees (66-39) are tied for 1st in the American League East, with the Tampa Bay Rays (66-39) for the first time since June 19.
Curtis Granderson is out of the lineup with left-hander Ricky Romero starting, and Austin Kearns is in his place, moving Gardner to CF.
Joe Girardi indicated that Granderson hasn’t become strictly a platoon player and will still get some at-bats vs. lefties.
