Andy Pettitte scheduled to have MRI

Posted by Colin MacNeil in NY Yankees on 08 17th, 2010 | one response

According to Bryan Hoch, Pettitte is scheduled to have a MRI today.

Pettitte threw approximately 40 pitches at Yankee Stadium before the Bombers’ game against the Tigers, and though he completed the session, Pettitte still has some hesitation to throw with full intensity.

Here is what Andy Pettitte had to say about his bullpen session on Tuesday:

“I’m feeling good. I’m feeling better,” Pettitte said. “But when I reach back 100 percent, like I’m trying to get a batter out in a game, the groin area grabs.”

Every Bronx Bombers fan are holding their breath and waiting to hear back on Pettitte’s MRI, hoping for some good news.

It will be a month tomorrow, since Andy Pettitte was placed on the 15-day disable list.

Update on Andy Pettitte 8:56pm: Andy won’t be back until September according to Brian Heyman:

The results are in on Andy Pettitte’s MRI. It seems like he keeps getting further away from returning. The test showed a small persistent strain of the left groin. He can throw off flat ground, but he can’t throw off a mound again for approximately one week. So it’s obvious he won’t be back until September at the earliest.

This is not the news that Yankee faithfuls wanted to hear!!!

YANKEE FACT

06/10/2011 - On May 8, 1925, the Yankees Everett Scott sat out a game against the St. Louis Brown, ending his Major League record of 1,307 consecutive games played. Just three weeks later, Scott's teammate Lou Gehrig began a streak of 2,130 straight games that would break Scott's record and stand for decades.
