Nick Swisher in back in the lineup, after he was taken out of the game in the seventh inning, due to taking a foul ball off his left knee, and then moments later, fouling another pitch off his left foot.
This is what Nick Swisher had to say about his plate appearance in the seventh inning:
“It’s part of the game,” Swisher said of the unlucky sequence after the game. “When you go out and play every day, some things are going to happen. I feel fine — it just swelled up a little bit. I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow morning and see how it feels.”
This is a good sign for the Yankees and Yankee faithfuls, that it wasn’t something more serious.
Update: Swisher is a late scratch according to Wallace Matthews of ESPN.
Nick Swisher, still suffering the effects of taking a foul ball off his left knee Tuesday night, was a late scratch from tonight’s Yankees-Blue Jays game. Brett Gardner, originally given the night off, will replace him.
