Girardi: Soriano Has Some Tightness In His Lower Back

Posted by Colin MacNeil in MLB, NY Yankees on 04 24th, 2011 | 2 Comments
As many of you were wondering (including myself) during today’s game against the Orioles, why is Dave Robertson coming in for the eighth and not Girardi’s “Eighth Inning Man” Rafael Soriano. Well, we can finally put that question to rest; Soriano has some tightness in his lower back, says Girardi. He’ll be re-evaluated tomorrow to see if he can pitch. Hopefully he’s okay, because it’s unlikely Mo will be available on Monday after throwing 30-something pitches today. The Yankees rotation for the next four-games: Monday: A.J. Burnett (3-0, 4.37) Tuesday: Ivan...

Posted by Colin MacNeil in MLB, NY Yankees on 04 14th, 2011 | No Comments
After last night’s win over the Baltimore Orioles (7-4), the Yankees look to sweep the Birds in a shorten…two-game series, due to postponement of game one of a three-game series, on Tuesday night. On the mound tonight for the Bombers is Phil Hughes (0-1, 16.50). We all know that Hughes has been having velocity problems as of late and Hughes needs an affirmative outing to stop the questions and the doubts. Both the Yankees and Orioles pushed back, A.J Burnett (Yankees) and Chris Tillman (Orioles) to pitch in tonight’s contest. The Yankees have won 18 of the last 22 and 23 of the last 30 games played against Baltimore, but the Orioles have gone 3-3 against New York since manager Buck Showalter took control...

Manhattan Mini Storage mocks the Mets

Posted by Brian Capozzi in MLB on 04 7th, 2011 | 1 Comment
Pictures have been circulating around the internet since yesterday that show one of the most recent advertising efforts by Manhattan Mini Storage. As if the Bernie Madoff hasn’t caused enough drama and frustration within the Mets universe, Manhattan Mini Storage is getting in on the action. Advertisements around New York City are asking New Yorkers why they are leaving the city when there are 6 professional sports team… AND the Mets. Not gonna lie… I think this is hysterical. I know many people out there are calling it insensitive and not funny, but come on, you gotta...

Today’s Lineup – Twins vs Yankees (04/07/11)

Posted by Colin MacNeil in MLB, NY Yankees on 04 7th, 2011 | No Comments
After having last night game postponed, due to rain, the Yankees should be good and rested to start today’s get-away game. A.J. Burnett will be starting today’s game as schedule. Keeping Burnett on schedule and not sending Garcia out on the mound today, means Sabathia will pitch during the Red Sox series, which starts tomorrow afternoon in Boston. Garcia has been pushed back to pitch on April 15 against the Rangers and will be available in the bullpen beginning Thursday. No makeup date for the contest has been announced yet. Curtis Granderson is getting an extra day off. Brett...

Tonight’s Lineup – Twins vs Yankees (04/06/11)

Posted by Colin MacNeil in MLB, NY Yankees on 04 6th, 2011 | No Comments
Freddy Garcia will be making his Yankees debut tonight. Garcia won the 5th spot in the Yankees rotation this past spring training, where he outpitched fellow veteran Bartolo Colon. Garcia had a 12-6 record and a 4.64 ERA last year, while pitching for the Chicago White Sox. On the mound for the Twins, is a familiar face to the Yankees, the walking-wounded, Carl Pavano. The Yankees signed Pavano to a lucrative free-agent contract in December 2004, and he spent the next four seasons battling various injuries and trying to get back to the mound. Pavano missed one season entirely and missed most...

YANKEE FACT

06/10/2011 - On May 8, 1925, the Yankees Everett Scott sat out a game against the St. Louis Brown, ending his Major League record of 1,307 consecutive games played. Just three weeks later, Scott's teammate Lou Gehrig began a streak of 2,130 straight games that would break Scott's record and stand for decades.
