Tonight’s lineup – Orioles vs Yankees

Posted by Colin MacNeil in MLB, NY Yankees on 09 7th, 2010 | No Comments
According to Chad Jennings, Alex Rodriguez is out of tonight’s lineup: Joe Girardi said he’s strictly playing it safe with Alex Rodriguez. He hasn’t seen anything to cause alarm, but given the fact there were no rehab games to ease Rodriguez in, Girardi didn’t feel comfortable playing him four games in a row. He decided to give him today off, and Rodriguez might get another day in either Texas or Tampa. Also, C.C. Sabathia will be going for his 20th win tonight, which would be the first time in his career. Sabathia has been pitching in the Big Leagues for the past 12 years. New...

Posted by Brian Capozzi in Charleston RiverDogs on 08 26th, 2010 | No Comments
Class A Charleston River Dogs hurler Brett Marshall tossed a one-hitter against the Savannah Sand Gnats in a rain-shortened 8-0 victory. Marshall, a sixth-round pick in the 2008 Draft, was 3-6 with a 5.56 ERA in 17 games last season before undergoing elbow ligament replacement surgery. He returned to the mound this summer at the Yankees’ Spring Training complex in Tampa, Fla., where coaches eventually allowed him to finally use his signature pitch again, the sinking two-seam fastball. While relying mainly on his two-seamer, Marshall took a perfect game into the 6th inning. Marshall...

C.C. Sabathia Loves The Bronx

Posted by Brian Capozzi in NY Yankees on 08 25th, 2010 | No Comments
C.C. Sabathia isn’t just having another one of his usual seasons in 2010… he is having by far the best season of his career. Prior to the 2010 season, Sabathia high-water mark for wins in one season is 19. Through August 24th, with about 6 starts remaining, C.C. is sitting at 17 wins. If all goes well for Sabathia, and he doesn’t cool down, he could easily end the season with 21 wins, capping off what could very well be another Cy Young award for him. He does however, have some very strong competition in David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays. It may very well go down to the last...
